$66K Rolex Grabbed From Display Case At Nassau Jewelry Store: PD

The thief faces a count of grand larceny, police say.

GARDEN CITY, NY — A Rolex watch, valued at more than $65,000, was grabbed from the display case at Gross Jewelers on Franklin Avenue, police said.

Costica Alexandru, 27, of Queens, placed the watch in his pocket and eventually left the store, police said.

Alexandru was arrested on Monday for the July 18 incident, authorities said.

He was charged with second-degree grand larceny and three counts of possession of a forged instrument, police said. Alexandru was expected to be arraigned on Tuesday.
