Bicyclist Killed In Drunken Hit And Run Crash On LI: Police

WESTBURY, NY — A Hicksville man was arrested over the weekend for vehicular manslaughter, police said.

Just before 4 a.m. Sunday, police said, Wilfredo Blanco Molina, 41, was driving a grey Chrysler Sebring eastbound on Old Country Road in Westbury.

Molina struck a bicyclist near the intersection of State Street and drove away, authorities said.

The male bicyclist sustained severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Molina was located a short time later near the intersection of Old Country Road and the Wantagh State Parkway. He was given a sobriety test, the results of which were positive.

Molina was placed under arrest without incident, police said. Investigation resulted in a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine located on Molina, authorities said.

He is charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, leaving the scene of an incident, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and driving while intoxicated, police said.

Molina was expected to be arraigned on Monday.
