Car Stolen From Garden City Recovered In New Jersey: Police

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending July 5.
June 29
- A tow hook cover was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the Adelphi University campus.
- Firefighters, police and PSEG responded to a dangerous condition on Lefferts Road where tree limbs fell on a power line.
- A side-view mirror on a vehicle parked on Locust Street was damaged.
- The driver’s side of a vehicle parked in Parking Field 7S was damaged.
- A driver on St. James St. South was charged with driving with a suspended license and switched license plates.
June 30

- An officer observed a vehicle stopped on Old Country Road. The driver was sleeping while the vehicle was running and mounted over a curb onto a sidewalk. Upon investigation, the driver, a 46-year-old man, was arrested for DWI.
- Officers investigated a report of a man punching and damaging a door as he exited a NICE bus on Franklin Avenue.
- A truck struck the Cherry Valley overpass. The driver was charged with disregarding bridge clearance signs.
- A company was issued an appearance ticket for soliciting in the village without a permit.
- A driver on Washington Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license and tinted windows.
July 1
- Officers arrested a man on Rockaway Avenue for two New York City financial crime warrants and one Nassau County financial crime warrant.
- Officers arrested a driver on Clinton Road for driving with a revoked license, six license suspensions, and speeding.
- A company was issued an appearance ticket for soliciting door to door without a permit.
July 2

- A vehicle was reported stolen from a Maxwell Road residence. The owner tracked the vehicle to Newark where it was recovered. Potential evidence was retrieved from the vehicle.
- Officers investigated a report of a possible unauthorized hacking into a victim’s cell phone.
- A driver on Franklin Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended registration.
July 3
- Garden City detectives arrested a 28-year-old man for stealing property from a vehicle in March and from another vehicle in May. He also used a credit card stolen in the May incident to unlawfully purchase merchandise. He was charged with identity theft, criminal possession of stolen property and three counts of grand larceny.
- A driver on Rockaway Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed.
- A driver on 2nd Street was charged with driving with a suspended license and tinted windows.
July 4
- As a result of a domestic incident investigation, officers arrested an 18-year-old man for intentionally damaging property. He was charged with criminal mischief.
- Police officers and Special Police Personnel provided traffic control on New Hyde Park Road and Stewart Avenue for the Stewart Manor Fire Department’s annual 4th of July Parade.
- Firefighters and police responded to a residence for a fire alarm and determined the cause to be burnt food.
July 5
- Officers arrested a driver on Clinton Road for driving with a revoked license, six license suspensions and fraudulent license plates.
- Officers investigated a report of a suspicious box in the roadway on Nassau Boulevard and determined it was debris.
- A driver on Rainbow Place was charged with driving with a suspended license, a suspended registration and obstructed view.
- A driver on Stewart Avenue was charged with unlicensed operation and excessive speed.
