Firefighter Suffers Hand Injury, Oyster Bay Office Building Fire: FD

Fire marshals say approximately 75 firefighters were on scene Monday.

OYSTER BAY, NY — A firefighter suffered a hand injury after a 2-story office building caught fire on Monday, fire marshals said.

The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said the Oyster Bay Fire Department received a call for smoke in a building at 4:11 p.m.

Fire department units responded to South Street and observed the office building with heavy smoke and fire on the second floor, fire marshals said.

The firefighter with a hand injury was transported to Winthrop Hospital, fire marshals said.

Oyster Bay Fire Company One and Atlantic Steamers Fire Company were assisted by mutual aid Fire Departments, including Syosset, Bayville, Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, East Norwich, and Locust Valley, fire marshals said.

According to fire marshals, approximately 75 firefighters were on the scene. The fire was contained ot the second floor and brought under control within an hour, fire marshals said.

The fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office and NCPD Arson/Bomb Squad, fire marshals said.
