Graduation Guide: Celebrate Garden City's Class of 2013
Important dates and other graduation-related information.

Garden City's Class of 2013 began the week as high school seniors and will end the week as the community’s newest young adults. Here’s a guide you can use to help them celebrate their milestones.
GRADUATION REHEARSAL/PTA SENIOR BREAKFAST
Date & Time: Friday, June 21 – 9 a.m.

Students must attend the rehearsal in order to participate in Saturday's commencement exercises. Any student suspected to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be dealt with. Penalty for misbehavior at rehearsal may include non-attendance at commencement exercises.
Graduating seniors must report to the high school promptly at 9 a.m. and report directly to the cafeteria where breakfast will be served courtesy of the PTA. Rehearsal will immediately follow.

Three indoor graduation tickets will be distributed to each senior. These tickets will be used if graduation is moved indoors to the high school gym due to inclement weather. Any guest who does not have a ticket will be seated in the auditorium where there will be live video/audio feed of the ceremony.
GARDEN CITY HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION
Date & Time: Saturday, June 22 – 10 a.m.
All graduates must report to the high school auditorium at 9 a.m. sharp and are advised not to bring anything valuable with them as there won't be a secure place to leave it. Seniors will be directed to line up in their designated hallways. Graduation begins promptly at 10 a.m. Appropriate attire is required: Gentlemen in a white dinner jacket, black tuxedo pants, black bowtie and appropriate footwear (no flip flops) and ladies in an appropriate white dress and appropriate shoes (no flip flops).
Outdoor graduation: Candidates for graduation are invited to bring as many guests as they would like if the ceremony is to be held outdoors. Graduation takes place on the Warren King Memorial Field. A tent will be provided to provide shade for senior citizens during the ceremony.
Indoor graduation: In the case of rain, each senior will be permitted to use the three tickets they received at graduation rehearsal. The exercises will be held in the gymnasium. Overflow of guests will be seated in the auditorium, where there will be a live video/audio feed.
GCTA/PTA GRADUATION RECEPTION
Date & Time: Saturday, June 22 - 11:30 a.m.
This co-sponsored event will take place in the student cafeteria. Light refreshments will be served. There will also be an opportunity for students to take photographs with classmates.
There will be three ways for students to receive their diploma:
- After the ceremony in the high school library
- Monday, June 24, or Tuesday, June 25, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the high school main office
- On Wednesday, June 26, remaining diplomas will be mailed home
