Flapjack Fundraiser, Fashion Show This Week

Economist Peter Orszag Lecture: Peter Orszag, chairman of the financial strategy and solutions group at Citigroup Inc. and a former director of the Office of Management and Budget in the Obama administration, will speak at Adelphi University Monday about "Corporate America meets Behavioral Economics.” The free lecture begins at 6 p.m. in the Thomas Dixon Lovely Ballroom in the Ruth S. Back to Girl Scouts Night: Anyone interested in learning about the Garden City Girl Scouts are welcome to attend the second annual BACK TO GIRL SCOUTS NIGHT, to be held Tuesday in the Garden City High School cafeteria from 6:30-8 p.m. Click here for more info.

BOE Work Session: On Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 8:15 p.m., Garden City Public Schools Board of Education will hold a work session at the Administration Building, 56 Cathedral Avenue. An update of the district’s science research program is scheduled.

POA Meetings: The Eastern Property Owners' Association (EPOA) will meet in the village hall boardroom beginning at 7:30 p.m. The meeting, which is open to all Garden City residents, will feature an executive from Forest City Ratner, the development group selected to renovate the Nassau Coliseum and Plaza. The Central Property Owners' Association (CPOA) will meet Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Garden City Senior Center on Golf Club Lane. The Property Owners' Association of Garden City Estates (Estates POA) will meet Wednesday beginning at 8 p.m. at Stratford School.
