Food Drive, Blood Drive Thursday

Here's a rundown of what's happening in the village of Garden City today and on Garden City Patch:

Garden City Pool Cares Weekend: Garden City Pool Cares Week returns this year July 25-28 at the Garden City Pool. Canned goods and non-perishable items can be dropped off in the big Island Harvest box in the pool lobby. All food will be donated to food banks across Long Island. The annual event ties in with the Pool's Christmas in July program.

Blood Drive: Garden City brothers Bobby and Jake Menges are hosting a blood drive Thursday in loving memory of Garden City resident Stacey Leondis, who lost her life to osteocarcoma five years ago at the age of 23. The bloodmobile will be parked on the corner of Cedar Place and Hilton Ave. between 2 and 8 p.m. Email emenges430@verizon.netto reserve a spot.
