GARDEN CITY, NY — Garden City School's Director of Transportation, Dave Murphy, is retiring after 15 years. Murphy started working for the District in May of 2006, and he has left an imprint on the Garden City community.

In his role, Murphy supervised the entire transportation department, made up of drivers, mechanics and attendants. He was also a driver himself on many occasions, noting connecting with children over the years and watching them grow was his favorite part of the job.

“The people around here are very supportive and so is the district,” said Murphy. “I’m going to miss it, I really am. I put what I feel is everything I had – my experience, my knowledge, my certifications – I’ve used every bit of it in this position. The community itself is an extremely nice community. The people appreciate the service that we provide to them.”
