Garden City Students Organize Donation Drives
Middle and high school students gave back to people in need during the holidays.
GARDEN CITY, NY — Garden City students in many different buildings organized several donation drives to make a difference this holiday season and help others.
At Garden City High School, the Key Club organized a teddy bear drive to support The Interfaith Nutrition Network, or The INN. The INN addresses homelessness and hunger through awareness, action and generosity. Additionally, students in the high school library makerspace knit scarves to put on some of the teddy bears before they were delivered to the organization.
Middle schoolers in the Anti-Bullying Club also led a donation drive. Students and staff donated more than 200 toys that went to children staying at NYU Langone Hospital. Not only did the toy drive benefit members of the greater community, it was a positive experience for Garden City students as many of them shared stories about how the collection became a family project.
