Garden City U11 Baseball One Win from District Title

Will seek to capture title on Friday night in Floral Park.

By virtue of two consecutive wins to open the 2013 U11 District 29 Little League baseball tournament, the Garden City district team stands just one win away from capturing the District 29 U11 title.

The boys, spurred on by a large crowd of supporters at Nuzzi Field in New Hyde Park, opened the tournament last Wednesday with a 7-5 extra inning victory over Franklin Square and then followed that clutch win with a well played 13-4 victory over New Hyde Park.

The two wins enabled the boys, many of whom played on last summer’s U10 district title winning team, to head to the finals of the double elimination tournament without a single blemish.

Members of this year's team are: Jackson Bautch, Stephen Baymack, Jason Brown, Luke Caporicci, Jake Fraher, Joseph Griffin, Andrew Luglio, Joseph Macchiarola, Jeffrey Papazian, Michael Rasquin, Shane Ross, T.J. Schmitt and Garrett Zander.

The GC squad now awaits either Malverne, Franklin Square or New Hyde Park, whom they will seek to defeat on Friday, July 5, at 6 p.m. at the Floral Park Recreation Center to capture the title.
