Garden City's 47th Turkey Trot With 3 Different Thanksgiving Day Races

The races benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Societ​y, the Muscular Dystrophy Association ​and the Interfaith Nutrition Network.

GARDEN CITY, NY — Long Island's largest Thanksgiving Day race is back for the 47th year.

The Garden City Turkey Trot benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Interfaith Nutrition Network.

Plus, runners are encouraged to bring non-perishable food.

You can register online for the Thanksgiving morning event or sign up at St. Paul's on Wednesday (6-8 p.m.) or race day (starting at 8 a.m.)

The trot consists with races: The Challenger Division for special needs athletes, a 1.4-mile fun run and a five-mile race.

Last year, more than 7,000 participated, with thousands of spectators lining the streets.

There will be no race day parking at St. Paul's, the mayor's office said.
