Garden City's Burlington Store To Downsize, Floor & Decor Coming
Stewart Plaza will undergo a renovation, with Burlington Coat Factory losing square footage, and a Floor & Decor home store opening.

GARDEN CITY—Brixmor Property Group announced they are planning an overhaul of Stewart Plaza in Garden City. The shopping center, at 650 Stewart Ave., is anchored by a large Burlington Coat Factory store.
The shopping centers owners explained that Burlington is still performing well as a retailer, but that it will be downsized to 64,000 from over 83,000 square feet. The change is part of Burlington's overall company move toward smaller stores.
Burlington is opening brand new locations with the smaller footprint, including a location in Farmingville that opened this month.

The opening up of the space allowed Brixmor to bring in Floor & Decor, a warehouse home supply store that's been expanding on Long Island this year.
The Floor & Decor store will be 75,000 square feet. And the shopping center, built in 1990, will get an overall upgrade.
