GC Library Holds Successful Food Drive

The drive contributed 207 pounds of non-perishable food and other items to Long Island Cares, Inc., The Harry Chapin Food Bank.

The Garden City Public Library’s Summer Food Drive contributed 207 pounds of non-perishable food and other items to Long Island Cares, Inc., The Harry Chapin Food Bank.

The library had a collection bin in the lobby for canned and dry goods and other non-perishable items throughout the summer.

Long Island Cares, Inc., The Harry Chapin Food Bank thanked the library and its patrons for joining the organization’s mission to end hunger on Long Island.

Long Island Cares distributes more than six million pounds of food to more than 500 member agencies. The organization also seeks to heighten public awareness about hunger and provides skills training to foster self-sufficiency among the population that benefits from its services.
