Girl Scouts of Nassau County Announces Hempstead Resident to Serve on Board Development Committee

Elizabeth Flores Will Serve as Member on Girl Scouts of Nassau County's Board Development Committee.

Girl Scouts of Nassau County announced that Hempstead resident Elizabeth Flores has been elected to serve on the Girl Scouts of Nassau County Board Development Committee through 2027. Elizabeth Flores was officially sworn in during the organization's 60th Annual Meeting, held at Nassau Community College in Garden City. The Board of Directors and Board Development Committee is comprised of lifelong Girl Scouts, community leaders, and nonprofit and corporative executives who provide leadership, innovation and support to the Council and guide the organization’s vision and mission.

“The leadership and dedication of our Board Development Committee members are critical to the growth of our council,” said Randell Bynum, Chief Executive Officer of Girl Scouts of Nassau County. “We are honored to welcome Elizabeth Flores to this team and look forward to the expertise and perspective they will bring in identifying and cultivating new leaders to support and advance our mission.”

The Board of Directors and Board Development Committee provide strategic guidance and collaborate to foster opportunities for girls across Nassau County to develop courage, confidence, and character. Committee members also help ensure the continued strength of the council’s leadership by recruiting, supporting, and mentoring future board and committee members.

Elizabeth Flores is the Director of Community Impact at the Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF), founded by Billie Jean King in 1974, where she leads the organization’s community partner initiatives. Over the past 26 years with WSF, she has played a key role in expanding its grant-making portfolio and strengthening its partnerships to ensure greater access and opportunities to sport for communities nationwide. Elizabeth began her journey with WSF as a high school volunteer and has since developed impactful programs with brands including Athleta, ESPN, Frito-Lay, Gatorade, Hershey, Procter & Gamble, and Tylenol. Outside of her professional work, she has served as a Girls on the Run coach, using her background in education to help empower girls through sports and leadership.
