Hofstra To Host Black History Month Dance Performance

The Forces of Nature Dance Theater returns to Hofstra University on Feb. 7.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — In celebration of Black History Month, Hofstra University hosts a special performance.

The Forces of Nature Dance Theater returns on Feb. 7.

The company brings a unique blend of performing arts to the stage, including modern dance and traditional West African dance.

Forces of Nature was founded in 1981. Founding member and principal soloist, Dyane Harvey is also a Hofstra adjunct professor of drama and dance.

The 7 p.m. performance takes place at the Toni and Martin Sosnoff Theater at John Cranford Adams Playhouse.

Admission is free, but advance registration is required.

Guests are encouraged to bring nonperishable food items or basic toiletries that will be donated to the Hofstra Pride Pantry and the Mary Brennan INN, a volunteer-based organization in Hempstead that provides a variety of essential services to assist those challenged by hunger, homelessness, and profound poverty.
