Cub Scouts to Host First 'Pack 7' Night

The event will be held in the Stewart School gym Sept. 27.

Garden City Cub Scouts will host their first "Pack 7 Night" Friday, Sept. 27, at Stewart School in Garden City.

The event will be held in the school gym between 7:30 and 9 p.m. Erik’s Reptile Adventures will provide a hands-on experience where kids can learn about the habitat and diet of lizards, snakes, arachnids and more.

Some events scouts enjoy include sleepover trips to places like the Museum of Natural History, outings to the Air and Space Museum and Long Island Ducks games, camping trips where scouts learn about archery, fishing, hiking and more and the Pinewood Derby where scouts can build and race model cars.

Pack 7 also takes part in service projects like food drives and conservation projects. Scouts learn the importance of team building and bonding, good citizenship, character development and physical fitness.

"Family is the basis of Pack 7," according to David Phillips. "No more struggling to find time to spend together, Pack 7 provides ready-made opportunities to do things together."
