EAST GARDEN CITY, NY — A Mamaroneck man was arrested Sunday after police say he tried to sexually assault a cleaning woman at a hotel.

According to police, at 12:17 p.m. on Sept. 4 a 33-year-old woman working at the Red roof Inn, located at 699 Dibblee Drive in East Garden City, was approached by a male guest who exposed himself to her while touching his genitals.

As the woman tried to clean his room, police say the man, Zion Powell, grabbed the woman's wrist and tried to pull her into the room. The woman fled to a nearby unoccupied room, police said, and Powell followed her. Police say he stood in the doorway of the room and stopped the woman from leaving while continuing to expose himself to her.
