Man Abandoned Dog By Tying It To Pole: Garden City Police

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Dec. 7.
Dec. 1
- Garden City detectives arrested a 42-year-old man for tying a dog to a pole in Meadow Street field and abandoning it without providing food or water. The incident occurred on Nov. 21. He was charged with abandonment of an animal.
- Graffiti was found on two statues on the grounds of St. Joseph’s Church.
- A Brooklyn company was charged with the operation of a truck on Clinton Road while 22,000 pounds overweight.
- Officers investigated a report of a vehicle leaving the scene after colliding into another vehicle on Washington Avenue.
- A person reports her jewelry was either lost or stolen in the vicinity of 7th Street.

- Lewd graffiti was found on the sidewalk in front of a 7th Street restaurant.
- A driver on Stewart Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended registration and unregistered vehicle.
- Police and firefighters responded to a Franklin Avenue building for a fire alarm and determined the cause to be burnt food.
- A vehicle parked in Parking Field 7S was found damaged by unknown means.
Dec. 3
- Police are investigating the theft of cryptocurrency from a person’s coin base account.
- Police and firefighters responded to a 7th Street building for a fire alarm and determined the cause was ongoing construction.
- Officers were assigned to traffic and safety details for the Western Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony.
- Police assisted firefighters who extinguished a small garbage fire on the St. Paul’s grounds.
- A driver on Old Country Road was charged with excessive speed, switched license plates, and unregistered operation.
- A driver on Rockaway Avenue was charged with unlicensed operation, unsafe lane usage, and failure to stop for a police vehicle.
- A driver on Cathedral Avenue was charged with driving with improper license plates and suspended registration.

- Upon investigation of a suspicious person trespassing on a Carteret Place property, officers arrested a 50-year-old man for an outstanding Suffolk County larceny warrant, trespassing and public consumption of alcohol.
- Officers were assigned to traffic and safety details for the Stewart Avenue Tree Lighting Ceremony.
- Police and firefighters responded to an East Drive residence for a carbon monoxide alarm activation where firefighters determined the cause to be a faulty detector.
- Police investigated an attempted use of a person’s identity to open an unauthorized credit card account.
- A driver on Clinton Road and Chestnut Street was charged with improper license plates, unregistered vehicle, and transporting a 2-year-old child without a car seat.
Dec. 6
- Police investigated a report of a resident’s identity being used to file a false unemployment claim.
- A Great Neck company was cited for operating a truck on Clinton Road while 18,000 pounds overweight.
- A driver on Old Country Road and Cherry Valley Avenue was charged with unlicensed operation and excessive speed.
- Detectives are investigating a report of harassing emails sent to a Garden City business.
Dec. 7
