Man Charged With Assault At Railroad Station: Garden City Police

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending July 27.
July 21
- Police and firefighters responded to Brook Street for low-hanging power lines. They were determined to be utility wires. The proper authority was notified for repairs.
- Officers responded to the Mobil Station on Franklin Avenue for a man who said he was assaulted by another man with a bat in Hempstead and suffered multiple injuries. The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Hempstead police were notified.

- A person staying at the Residence Inn said important documents were missing from his room.
- A driver was charged with driving on Meadow Street with a suspended license and passing a stop sign.
- Officers investigated an identity theft where an unauthorized bank account was opened and linked to a resident’s existing bank account.
July 23
- Packages were reported stolen from a Washington Avenue porch.
- A driver was charged with driving on Clinton Road with a suspended license and excessive speed.
- Police and firefighters responded to a building on Old Country Road for a stuck elevator. It was determined the elevator was unoccupied. The elevator was taken out of service.
July 24

- Officers arrested a 33-year-old man for DWI on Stewart Avenue.
- The brick wall on the north side of the Nassau Boulevard railroad station was found damaged.
July 25
- Officers investigated the theft of multiple items from CVS Pharmacy.
July 26
- Walgreens reports the theft of multiple items from the store by a man.
- A package was reported stolen from a Meadow Street porch.
- Large tree limbs fell on Washington Avenue and on South Avenue
July 27
- Upon an investigation at the Country Life Press railroad station, officers arrested a 29-year-old man for four counts of criminal mischief and two counts of assault.
- A resident reported someone cashed a fraudulent check against his bank account.
- Officers responded to 11th street for a malfunctioning traffic light.
