GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Jan. 4.

Dec. 29

  • Two packages delivered to a Euston Road residence were reported stolen.
  • A victim reports there were fraudulent transactions made against her debit card account.

  • Upon investigation of two subjects purchasing meals at Maggiano’s Restaurant with a forged credit card, Garden City detectives arrested two women, ages 31 and 38, for possessing numerous forged credit cards and a credit card skimming device. They were charged with multiple counts of possession of a forged instrument, identity theft and larceny.
  • Police and firefighters responded to Parking Field 7N where a driver accidentally drove her vehicle into the rear of a Franklin Avenue building. The vehicle was safely removed, and the building was safeguarded. Building officials were notified to respond and assess damage to the building. The driver and occupants inside the building were not injured.
  • Police and firefighters responded to a Franklin Avenue building for a fire alarm and discovered the cause to be a smoke emanating from a light ballast. Firefighters rendered the area safe.
  • A package delivered to a Pell Terrace residence was reported stolen.

Dec. 31

  • Officers charged a driver with reckless driving on Transverse Road.
  • A person reported she discovered several personal documents missing after taking a taxi through the village.

  • Officers responded to Clinton Road for a fallen tree limb blocking traffic.
  • Police and firefighters responded to a residence for a fire alarm and determined the cause to be overcooked food.
  • Police and firefighters responded to a residence for a fire call and determined the cause was excess smoke emanating from the fireplace.
  • Officers responded to Stewart Avenue for a fallen streetlight pole blocking traffic.

Jan. 2

  • Officers arrested a 20-year-old man on Old Country Road for entering a fenced-in area and climbing to the top of the village water tower, where he was taking pictures. He was charged with criminal trespassing.
  • Officers investigated a report of a man committing a lewd act in front of a 7th Street establishment.
  • Officers investigated a criminal mischief report at the Residence Inn; a table inside a suite was damaged.

Jan. 3

  • Items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on Wyatt Road.
  • Unauthorized bank accounts were reportedly opened by using a victim’s identity without permission.
  • Officers responded to a residence for an alarm sounding. Upon arrival, the officers determined the alarm was due to smoke. Firefighters responded and determined the cause to be burnt food.

Jan. 4

  • A driver was charged with driving on Clinton Road at Brook Street with a suspended license and improper plates.
  • A truck diver on Clinton Road was charged with driving a commercial vehicle while 20,000 pounds overweight.
  • Police and firefighters responded to Adelphi University for a fire alarm and determined the cause to be a faulty detector.
  • Property was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a Nassau Boulevard driveway.
