Nassau Hit-And-Run Leaves Man In Critical Condition: Police

Police are asking people to come forward with information after they say a Hempstead hit-and-run left a man in critical condition.

HEMPSTEAD, NY — A man was seriously hurt in a Wednesday night hit-and-run in Hempstead, Nassau County police said.

The man was crossing South Franklin Street near Peninsula Boulevard around 10:30 p.m. when he was hit by a dark SUV heading south. The driver, who was not seen, didn't stop, police said.

The man, who police have not identified, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Police are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS, or call 911.
