Man Pulled Over With Loaded Gun, Dagger: Police
Darrell Barnes faces charges of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, police said.
HEMPSTEAD, NY — An Amityville man was arrested in Hempstead after a loaded gun was recovered from his motorcycle on Saturday morning, police said.
Officers observed the 2023 Harley Davidson traveling east on Weir Street near Milburn Avenue with an obstructed license plate, police said.
A traffic stop was conducted where a loaded silver/purple firearm with a red dot sight was found, authorities said.

Darrell Barnes, 38, was arrested without incident.
A large metal dagger approximately 12 inches in length was also recovered from a
saddle compartment of the motorcycle, police said.

Barnes is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He was scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday.
