Man Wanted In 3 States Arrested By Garden City Police

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department reported the following incidents for the week ending Aug. 16.

Aug. 10

  • Firefighters and police responded to a 7th Street building for a carbon monoxide alarm. Firefighters discovered a leak in the basement and rendered the area safe.
  • A victim’s identity was used without permission to open a bank account.
  • A catalytic converter was removed from a vehicle parked at the Cherry Valley Apartments.
  • A vehicle left the scene after colliding into another vehicle on Stewart Avenue.
  • Upon investigation of a motorist stopped on 7th Street for traffic violations, it was determined the person was wanted for a New Jersey warrant for dangerous drugs, an Ohio warrant for counterfeiting, and a New York warrant for DWI. It was also determined the person was in possession of seven forged bank checks, seven stolen bank checks totaling $262,000, numerous blank bank checks, and a copier apparently used to print false checks. He was charged with multiple counts of possession of a forged instrument, multiple counts of possession of stolen property, the outstanding warrants, as well as driving with a suspended license and suspended registration.

  • Numerous unauthorized charges were made against a victim’s credit card account.
  • A truck driver on Stewart Avenue was charged with unlicensed operation and failure to secure a loose load.
  • A truck left the scene after colliding with another vehicle on Clinton Road.
  • A vehicle was observed committing multiple moving violations on Meadow Street. The driver, a food delivery driver, was charged with passing a stop sign, unsafe backing, and following too closely.
  • A driver on Cambridge Avenue was charged with passing a stop sign and unsafe speed.

Aug. 12

  • A driver on Franklin Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license and suspended registration.
  • A victim’s identity was used without permission to open an unauthorized bank account.

  • A resident’s personal information was used to open an unauthorized bank account.
  • Firefighters and police responded to a Franklin Avenue building for an alarm and determined the cause to be burnt food.
  • A driver on 7th Street was charged with driving with a suspended license and illegal U-turn.
  • A driver on 7th Street was charged with driving with a suspended registration and illegal U-turn.

Aug. 14

  • An item was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a Wellington Road driveway.
  • A driver on Nassau Boulevard was charged with driving with a suspended license and unsafe turn.
  • A driver on Rockaway Avenue was charged with unlicensed operation and excessive speed.

Aug. 15

  • A driver on Clinton Road was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed.
  • Firefighters and police responded to a Ring Road restaurant for a fire alarm. Firefighters located an overheated dryer and rendered the area safe.
  • Officers responded to 9th Street for a hanging tree limb.
  • A stop sign and pole was discovered to be missing at the intersection of Oxford Boulevard and Stratford Avenue.
  • A resident’s identity was used to open an unauthorized credit card account and to make subsequent charges against the card.
  • Items were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in a Kilburn Road driveway.

Aug. 16

  • As a result of a traffic investigation on Nassau Boulevard, officers arrested a 38-year-old man for possession of numerous THC edibles, THC cartridges, and cannabis packages. He was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, unlawful possession of cannabis, driving with a suspended license, and unsafe lane use.
  • A resident’s identity was used to open an unauthorized online banking account.
  • A resident’s identity was used to open an unauthorized credit card account.
  • A driver on Rockaway Avenue was charged with unlicensed operation and excessive speed.
