McCarthy Nominates Local Teens to U.S. Military Service Academies

Two of Garden City's own were nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point.

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY4) has nominated several local teens to various U.S. military service academies, including the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point in Nassau County and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

A total of 10 nominees were appointed after a "rigorous application and interview process looking at various factors like academic performance and extra-curricular activities," according to McCarthy.

“These young men and women, along with our current forces serving around the globe, are our next Greatest Generation – smart, patriotic, brave and selfless,” McCarthy said. “Their examples bring confidence that our nation is in good hands for the future.”
