Mother Nature Does It Again

First Sandy, now Nemo cancels the Garden City Historical Society's annual professional art show.

Unfortunately with the announcement of a blizzard warning, the Garden City Historical Society had to cancel its annual professional art show, scheduled to begin Feb. 10. You might remember that this event, which usually takes place in the fall, was postponed last November because superstorm Sandy came to town.

The art show will now go back to its original schedule; please look for this enjoyable exhibit in the fall of 2013.

The Society thanks its 10 local artists—Suzie Alvey, Doug Anderson, Jock Anderson, Mary Jane Caldwell, Susana Eques Cerruti, Noel Darvie, George Mamos, John H.W. Rhein III, Barbara Rocco and Rose Zelenetz—who looked forward to displaying their artworks. We hope they will all participate in the fall show.

Please remember that The Garden City Historical Society Museum, an 1872 structure, which was one of the original homes built in A.T. Stewart’s planned community of Garden City, is open to the public on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tours of the main floor are led by a member of the Historical Society Board of Trustees; visitors can also browse the Museum Gift Shop. And please don’t forget to visit the Society’s consignment shop, the A.T. Stewart Exchange, located on the Museum’s lower level, which is open Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m.-4p.m., and on Saturdays, noon to 4 p.m.
