Nassau Man Assaulted Woman, Police Officers: NCPD

Police say he started to fight officers when they questioned him about assaulting a woman.

GARDEN CITY PARK, NY — A Garden City Park man was arrested Friday morning after Nassau County police say he assaulted a woman and two officers.

According to police, officers responded a home on 1st Street at 11 a.m. on Nov. 26. When they arrived, police say the officers found that Jonathan Brooks, 29, had assaulted a woman. The woman had cuts and bruises all over. She was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police say the officers tried to talk to Brooks, but he became agitated and combative. Police say he refused to listen to the officers and began to fight with them. The officers were eventually able to get him under control and place him under arrest. Police say one officer injured his shoulder and other injured his hands and wrists. They were both taken to a hospital for treatment.

Brooks is charged with aggravated criminal contempt, first-degree criminal contempt, four counts of second-degree assault, resisting arrest and first-degree stalking. He was arraigned on Nov. 27, and a temporary order of protection was issued. He was ordered held on bail of $40,000 bond or $20,000 cash, which was not posted.
