Nassau Police Investigating Early Morning Bank Robbery

Police say the robber handed the teller a note demanding money, and then fled with cash. Anyone with information is asked to come forward.

GARDEN CITY, NY — Nassau County police are investigating the robbery of a Garden City bank, and they're asking anyone with information to come forward.

According to police, the robber entered the People's United Bank, located at 106 7th St., at 9:56 a.m. on Monday. He approached the teller and gave her a note demanding money. The teller gave him cash, and the man fled.

There were six employees in the bank at the time of the robbery. No one was injured.

Police say the robber was a white man, 40-50 years old, 6 feet tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS or call 911. All callers will remain anonymous.
