Nassau Redistricting Commission Holding Public Hearings

NASSAU COUNTY, NY — After each decennial federal census, Nassau County redraws the lines of its legislative districts. The county's Temporary Districting Advisory Commission will be holding a series of meetings in the coming weeks to get resident input on the plans.

The bipartisan committee will study existing districts and make recommendations to the County Legislature about how they should be updated.

The commission has scheduled the following public hearings to hear public comments about redistricting. All of the meetings begin at 6 p.m.:

  • Aug. 31 at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive & Legislative Building, 1550 Franklin Ave., Mineola
  • Sept. 8 at North Hempstead Town Hall, 220 Plandome Road, Manhasset
  • Sept. 14 at Glen Cove City Hall, 9 Glen St., Glen Cove
  • Sept. 21 at Hempstead Town Hall, 1 Washington St., Hempstead
  • Sept. 28 at Long Beach City Hall, 1 West Chester St., Long Beach
  • Oct. 3 at Albany Avenue Community Center, 214 North Albany Ave., North Massapequa

All residents, community leaders and civic groups are invited to participate. The Commission requests that public comment during the hearings be limited to three minutes. Comments may also be submitted in writing by emailing LegPublicComment@nassaucountyny.gov.
