Nassau Sikh Temple Vandalized With Racial Slurs: Police

Police say the temple was broken into, and graffiti with racial slurs and religious words was found all over the building.

FLORAL PARK, NY — A Sikh temple in Floral Park was vandalized earlier this week, and Nassau County police are asking anyone with information to come forward.

According to police, someone broke into the temple, located at 383 Jericho Turnpike, between 6:30 p.m. Monday and 5:41 p.m. Tuesday. Police say a ladder was found leaning against the side of the building, which allowed the person to enter through a window.

Police say graffiti was found on the roof, windows and fence of the building. The graffiti contained racial slurs and religious words. The building was broken into, but nothing was stolen, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-Tips. All callers will remain anonymous.
