Nassau Woman Gets 7-15 Years For Fatal DWI Crash
Tasha Brown was driving drunk at more than 90 MPH when she struck a parked car and killed Nelson Fuentes in 2021.
HEMPSTEAD, NY — A Uniondale woman was sentenced to seven to 15 years in prison on Tuesday for a drunken crash in 2021 that killed a man.
Tasha Brown, 29, pleaded guilty on Oct. 14, 2022 to aggravated vehicular homicide, second-degree assault and aggravating driving while intoxicated.
“Tasha Brown was severely intoxicated when she slammed into a parked car on Front Street at more than 90 miles per hour with an unsuspecting Nelson Fuentes inside,” said Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly. “The 29-year-old victim suffered extensive injuries and died as a direct result of the defendant’s recklessness and selfishness. Now, Tasha Brown has been held responsible for her actions with a significant prison sentence.”

Around 4:35 a.m. on May 29, 2021, Brown was driving a 2016 Toyota Corolla west on Front Street in Hempstead when she veered off the roadway near the intersection of Hendrickson Avenue and struck multiple parked cars.
Brown had three passengers in her car, and was driving more than 90 miles per hour at the time of the crash.

Nelson Fuentes was sitting in one of the parked cars that Brown hit. He suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 5:26 a.m.
Brown was arrested in Hempstead on May 29, 2021.
