Nassau Woman Illegally Possessed Sacred Religious Sikh Book: Police
The woman, in possession of a sacred book belonging to a religious Sikh community, refused to open the door to officers, police say.

GARDEN CITY, NY — A woman was charged with grand larceny after Nassau police said she was in possession of a book sacred to a religious Sikh community.
Officers went to the home of Prabhleen Kaur, 37, of Garden City, on Wednesday to place her under arrest in connection with the illegal possession of the book, but she refused to open the door, police said. Emergency Service Unit officers entered Kaur's home and arrested her without further incident, police said. Kaur was transported to a nearby hospital for assessment, police said.
The sacred religious book was found and given back to the Sikh community, police said.

Kaur was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny. She was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday at First District Court, at 99 Main St., Hempstead.
