North Hempstead To Host Lunar New Year Celebration
The Year of the Snake party takes place on Feb. 2 at the Yes We Can Community Center.
WESTBURY, NY — A Lunar New Year celebration is coming to Westbury.
The North Hempstead Town Board and Supervisor Jennifer DeSena will host the event to usher in the Year of the Snake.
"One of our Town’s great strengths is our diversity," DeSena said. "A key to that strength is a thriving Asian community who share their rich cultural heritage, so I invite all our neighbors to come down and experience this beautiful celebration."

It takes place at the Yes We Can Community Center in Westbury on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 3 p.m.
Violinist Linda Li From the Manhasset Association of Chinese Americans will perform "Celebrating Lunar New Year — Selling Dumplings." A traditional Chinese dance entitled "The Floating Light" will be performed by Manhasset residents.

Other highlights include New Hyde Park Seniors and the Great Neck Social Center dance team "Rainbow Art Group" will perform traditional Chinese dances. The Chinese Center of Long Island will also take part in a Chinese zither performance.
Plus, there will be special Lunar New Year giveaways from multiple organizations.
