Officers Arrest Man Wanted For Crime In NYC: Garden City Police

GARDEN CITY, NY — The Garden City Police Department detailed the following incidents that occurred for the week ending Nov. 30.
Nov. 23
- Garden City and Nassau County detectives arrested an 18-year-old man on Huntington Road for a Robbery that occurred in Floral Park on May 16.
- A driver on Stewart Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license and a suspended registration.
- Two checks placed in the mail inside the Garden City Post Office were reportedly intercepted, altered and cashed.

- Garden City detectives arrested a 35-year-old man for calling Garden City police on Nov. 15 to falsely report a burglary in progress at a home. He was charged with falsely reporting an incident and stalking.
- A bicycle was reported stolen from a bike rack at the Country Life Press RR station.
- Officers responded to 7th Street for a suspicious backpack laying against a building. Upon investigation, the item was not considered harmful and was handed off for safekeeping.
Nov. 25
- Officers arrested a 30-year-old man on Nassau Boulevard for DWI and unsafe lane usage.
- Officers were assigned to traffic and safety details for the annual Turkey Trot.
- A driver on Old Country Road was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed.
- Officers responded to a water line break on Stewart Avenue and Elton Road.

- The operator of an off-road dirt bike on Rockaway Avenue was charged with unlicensed operation, equipment violations, and unregistered operation.
Nov. 27
- Upon the investigation of a suspicious vehicle related to an incident at CVS, Officers determined one of the occupants, a 19-year-old man, was wanted for an armed robbery that occurred in New York City on Nov. 26. The man was arrested and held until NYPD detectives responded and assumed custody.
- Officers assisted firefighters who extinguished a small brush fire on Manor Road.
- Officers assisted firefighters who extinguished a natural gas line fire in the rear of a Franklin Avenue restaurant. The occupants of the restaurant and adjoining businesses were safely evacuated. The investigation is ongoing.
- Officers investigated a report of a man checking cars on Dover Avenue. There were no reports of loss.
- Upon investigation of a one-vehicle crash in the vicinity of Cathedral Avenue, south of 1st Street, officers arrested the 30-year-old man driver for DWI, unregistered vehicle, and switched license plates.
- A motorist on Rockaway Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended registration, uninsured vehicle, and uninspected vehicle.
Nov. 28
- Garden City detectives arrested a 21-year-old man for illegally assuming the identity of a victim and transferring money from the victim’s bank account to his bank account. He was charged with identity theft and grand larceny.
- Police and firefighters responded to Kenwood Road for a strong order of gas. Upon receiving positive gas meter readings, Firefighters notified National Grid who responded to the scene and rendered the area safe.
Nov. 29
- Police are investigating a reported theft of cash and jewelry from a Franklin Avenue apartment.
- A driver on Franklin Avenue was charged with driving with a suspended license, suspended registration, and uninsured operation.
- Police are investigating a report of a person’s identity being stolen and used to purchase merchandise.
- Officers responded to County Seat Drive where a bus struck and damaged a Nassau County fire hydrant. Nassau County DPW responded to the scene to repair the hydrant.
Nov. 30
- A driver on Clinton Road was charged with driving with a suspended license and excessive speed.
- Officers investigated a report of a pocketbook theft during a gathering at a Garden City residence on Nov. 27.
- Officers were assigned to holiday DWI patrols over the Thanksgiving weekend, resulting in the arrests of two people for DWI and 28 tickets issued for various traffic offenses.
