Town Honors Outgoing Garden City Fire Chief

Hempstead Town Councilman Ed Ambrosino recently presented an official Town of Hempstead certificate of recognition to outgoing Garden City Fire Chief Charles S. Cavarra, who was honored at the Garden City Fire Department's installation held at Westbury Manor June 14.

Chief Cavarra has been a member of the Garden City Fire Department since 1988. In 2003 he was awarded Fireman of the Year.

That same evening, William Castoro was officially sworn in as chief. A member of the department since 1994, Chief Castoro will be aided during the coming year by 1st Assistant Joseph R. Nadolny, 2nd Assistant Chief Brian G. Gallo and 3rd Assistant Chief Thomas Strysko.
