Passenger Arrested After Stabbing Cab Driver In Nassau: PD
The stabbing left the driver with a laceration in his arm, police say.
WESTBURY, NY. — A New Cassel man was arrested after stabbing a cab driver Wednesday night in Westbury, police said.
According to Nassau County police, Sergio Ariel Guevara, 27, entered a taxi on Maple Avenue at 11 p.m., displayed a knife, and stabbed the driver, a 31-year-old man.
Guevara then exited the taxi and fled the scene, calling police a short distance away.

When officers arrived, they found that the taxi driver sustained a laceration to his left arm and was bleeding excessively; officers applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding and transported him to a nearby hospital for treatment, police said.
Guevara returned to the scene as officers were investigating and interviewing witnesses; he was identified by someone who witnessed the incident, police said.

He was arrested without further incident and a knife was recovered, police said.
He was taken to the hospital for assessment and treatment, police said. Guevara was arrested and charged with first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
He was slated for arraignment on Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
