Shoplifter Assaulted Officer While Resisting Arrest: Police
Police say the man became violent when an officer tried to stop him from shoplifting from Target.

WESTBURY, NY — A Brooklyn man was arrested Sunday afternoon after police say he assaulted an officer during his arrest.
According to police, an officer responded to Target, located at 999 Corporate Drive in Westbury, for a theft that had occurred earlier in the day. While the store's asset protection officer was reporting the theft to the officer, police say a man entered the store, took merchandise from the shelves, and left.
The officer went to place the man — Keyshawn Major Blackman, 21, of Brooklyn — under arrest, but he refused to listen to the officer's commands, police said. A fight started, and the officer sustained several injuries while placing Blackman under arrest, police said.
