St. Paul's Fields Undergoing 'Major Renovation'

Northwest corner has been taken out of service for the fall.

A "major renovation" project has taken the northwest corner of the St. Paul's fields out of service for the fall season, according to recreation director Kevin Ocker.

The "seasonal work responsibility" includes adding top soil to low areas of the field followed by "aggressive" soil aeration, seeding and watering.

"Most important, this process will be effective since the area has been taken out of service for the fall season therefore allowinthe young turf to mature in time for use in the spring," Ocker said.

The area is one large soccer field. The Department of Recreation and Parks was able to realign the rest of the fields to accommodate the 2,000 players that use the village fields during the spring and fall seasons.

"As you know the fields are very heavily used and from time to time we take a small section out so that we can get it back to our standard," Ocker said.
