The Volpes Prepping for Yuletide Ball

Garden City residents to host Winthrop's 2013 charity event.

Garden City residents Ali and Rich Volpe are prepping for Winthrop-University Hospital's 2013 Yuletide Ball, held each year during the December holiday season to raise funds in support of the hospital's Child Life Program at The Children’s Medical Center.

The Volpes have volunteered to host this year's event at their Garden City home on Saturday, Dec. 7 beginning at 7 p.m. where live music, dancing and fine dining will set the tone for the charity event.

The Volpes were recently honored at Winthrop-University Hospital's seventh annual Black and White Ball where more than 350 guests helped raise more than $280,000 to benefit the Center’s programs.

Winthrop’s Yuletide Ball has raised more than $2 million in support of the hospital’s Child Life Program, dedicated to helping children understand and cope with their hospital stay. Certified child life specialists utilize arts and crafts, therapeutic play, entertainment and other diversions to ensure that the hospital experience is as stress-free as possible for children and their families, according to a Winthrop press release.
