He said Patel "did an incredible job" in his first term, serving as chief of staff at the Department of Defense, deputy director of national intelligence, and senior director for counterterrorism at the National Security Council.

He noted Patel has tried over 60 criminal cases before a jury.

"This FBI will end the growing crime epidemic in America, dismantle the migrant criminal gangs, and stop the evil scourge of human and drug trafficking across the Border," he said, adding that he will work under our great attorney general-nominee, Pam Bondi, "to bring back fidelity, bravery, and integrity to the FBI."

Patel was born to Gujarati Indian parents who immigrated to the U.S. from East Africa through Canada, according to his biography.
