Police: Vanderbilt Court Burglar Arrested in Patchogue

Luis Lucero-Corte, 42, was charged with burglary and possession of a forged Social Security card.

Garden City detectives arrested a Patchogue man Tuesday for burglarizing an occupied home on Vanderbilt Court last month.

A joint investigation by Garden City and Nassau County detectives led them to Luis Lucero-Corte, 42, who was arrested at his home and charged with burglary and possession of a forged Social Security card.

At 1:20 a.m. Oct. 21, police say a Garden City resident awoke to Lucero-Corte inside her bedroom. He fled the house with no reported proceeds, according to the police report.

"It was a time-consuming investigation our detectives never gave up," police commissioner Kenneth Jackson said. "He changed his identity and moved out to Patchogue. We used some of the leads we were able to obtain and we found where he was hiding out. During a stakeout we were able to reel him in before he got to anybody else. It was quite an arrest and quite a job done by our detectives."

It is unknown at this time why Lucero-Corte targeted the residence, according to police commissioner Kenneth Jackson.
