HEMPSTEAD, NY — Check your pockets, because one lucky Long Islander is now $1 million richer.

A Powerball ticket worth $1 million was sold at the Sunoco station at 655 Peninsula Blvd. in Hempstead. The ticket was sold for the Jan. 12 drawing.

According to the New York Lottery, the ticket is worth a guaranteed $1 million.
