WPOA Seeks Applicants for Officers, Directors

The Western Property Owners Association (WPOA) is seeking applicants for positions as officers and directors; these terms begin in April 2013.

According to the WPOA by-laws, all officer positions—president, vice president, secretary and treasurer—are one-year terms, and therefore, each position will become open for election. In addition, the terms of the following positions on the board of directors are expiring: Building and Zoning; Public Utilities and Transportation; Correspondence, Legislation and Historian; Schools and Membership.

After the president is seated at the April 15 general meeting, he or she will appoint those individuals who have been elected as directors to their positions on the board.

Any resident of the western section of the village who is interested in seeking office or joining the WPOA board of directors is urged to submit a letter of interest and a resume to: Mrs. Carol Whalen, WPOA secretary, 41 Dartmouth Street, Garden City, NY 11530. The deadline for application is March 15, 2013.

All applications will then be reviewed by the Nominating Committee, and interviews will be conducted. The committee will present its selections for election at the April general meeting.

The western section of Garden City is bordered on the north by the main line of the LIRR, on the east by the west side of Tanners Pond and Edgemere Roads, on the south by Cambridge Avenue and on the west by Jefferson Street.
