Anna Kaplan Declares Victory In 7th Senate District Race
New York State Sen. Anna Kaplan declared victory Tuesday night in the Democratic primary for the 7th Senate District.

GLEN COVE, NY — New York State Sen. Anna Kaplan declared victory Tuesday night in the Democratic primary for the 7th Senate District, which includes the North Shore of Nassau County.
Newsday called the race for Kaplan, of North Hills, who advances to the general election in November.
"I'm so humbled by the incredibly strong support my neighbors have shown for me in this race, and as we look ahead to the November general election, I'm eager to continue the work of bringing our community together to fight back against the rising tide of hate and extremism that's desperately trying to take this seat away from us," Kaplan said in a statement.

She added: "At a time when a radical Supreme Court has demonstrated that they're willing to overturn even the most sensible federal protections, we can't afford to let extremist Republicans anywhere near the reins of power in our State government where they can continue their assault on women's rights, common-sense gun safety reforms, and our American democracy."
