Executive Director of NOSH Delivers Margaret Myhan said hunger is a real year-round crisis.

"Raising the awareness of food insecurity on Long Island is critical to help alleviate hunger by increasing access to food as well as basic goods and services," she said.

Myhan said there are more than 313,000 people on Long Island, including 71,500 children, who face food insecurity. She continued that NYS schools offer food for 180 days, and "children need food for the remaining 185 days."

NOSH is a nonprofit food pantry and also delivers NOSH Bags filled with groceries to local families.

"It was founded in 2020 in response to the shutdowns of soup kitchens and school food pantries due to the COVID pandemic," she said. "Between our deliveries and our food pantry, 750 families– more than 1,500 of our neighbors– rely on NOSH to make sure their families won't go hungry."

Myhan explained that Long Island Cares and Island Harvest are the major suppliers of food to NOSH, with more than 825,000 lbs. in 2024. NOSH receives food from local organizations, major food suppliers, the local Chamber of Commerce, bakeries, grocery stores, food drives, farms, and generous donors.

A KISS Products Representative said that this Giving Tuesday initiative has been a meaningful annual tradition for KISS Products for multiple years. The representative explained that they partner with Long Island Cares and local affiliates to support families across Long Island.

"Supporting the local community is an important part of being a responsible neighbor and a long-term community partner," the representative said. "We view this work as a way to strengthen the networks that families rely on— particularly during the holiday season, when demand for food assistance and supportive services is often elevated."

The representative added that Long Island is home to KISS Products and to many of their employees, and they are happy to make a difference.

"The most rewarding aspect is seeing employees come together across departments for a shared purpose and knowing the impact is local and immediate," the representative said. "The care packages provide practical support, and the handwritten notes add a personal message of encouragement—reinforcing that these families are part of a community that cares."
