
SafeWise, a website that tracks home security and safety statistics and resources, ranked Glen Cove the 83rd safest city in the country in 2019.
The ranking is part of SafeWise's "100 Safest Cities in America 2019" list, which was made up using FBI data.
According to SafeWise, 70 percent of the cities that made the list are located in the Northeast, with 30 percent of the cities being in New Jersey. Connecticut has the second most cities on the list.

The list took into account violent crime rate and property crime rate per 1,000 residents.
Glen Cove had 0.292 violent crimes per 1,000 residents and 5.730 property crimes per 1,000 residents, according to the data. With over 27,000 residents, Glen Cove has a median income of $74,767.

Ninety-three percent of the cities reported fewer than 10 total violent crimes, and 70 cities had few than 200 property crimes.
The list indicates a correlation between median income and low crime, with 59 percent of having a median income over $100,000. Only two cities had a median income below the national average of $57,652.
