Glen Cove Surgical Center Earns SRC Accreditation For Women's Surgery
Glen Cove Hospital's Katz Women's Surgical Center has achieved the world's first SRC accreditation for women's surgical excellence.

GLEN COVE, NY — Glen Cove Hospital’s Katz Women’s Surgical Center achieved the world’s first accreditation from the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as a Center of Excellence in Women’s Integrated Surgical Health, Northwell Health announced.
"This prestigious recognition highlights the center’s unwavering dedication to delivering the highest standards of quality patient care and safety," Northwell Health stated in a news release.
The accreditation was made possible by the "collaborative efforts of Glen Cove’s integrated, multidisciplinary team of nationally recognized surgeons," the healthcare network stated.

The Surgeons of Excellence in Women’s Integrated Surgical Health are awarded to Neil Tanna, MD, Susan Palleschi, MD, Jill Whyte, MD, and Marilena Cooperman, MD, MS. Their "expertise, dedication, and commitment to excellence" were instrumental in earning this groundbreaking distinction.
"This achievement reflects our commitment to providing advanced, compassionate care for our patients," said Kerri Scanlon, president of Glen Cove Hospital. "This recognition from the SRC marks a significant milestone in the field of women’s health and solidifies the Center’s position as a leader in surgical excellence."

The accreditation, developed in partnership with SRC, and the recognition as the first in the world, "underscores our unwavering dedication to setting the highest standard for women’s surgical health," said Elizabeth Austin, program director, Katz Women’s Surgical Center Glen Cove Hospital.
Achieving the status of an accredited Center of Excellence signifies that Glen Cove Hospital’s Katz Women’s Surgical Center has met "rigorous, nationally- and internationally-recognized standards, Northwell Health stated. The accreditation process is a "testament to the facility’s comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach to women’s surgical health," making it the first facility in the world to receive this distinction.

"This accreditation sets a new benchmark for women’s surgical health, establishing a global standard of care that prioritizes the whole woman. The path to achieving SRC accreditation involves an extensive assessment and inspection process to ensure compliance with its stringent standards. These requirements encompass surgical volumes, advanced facility equipment, clinical pathways, standardized operating procedures, patient education, and ongoing quality assessment. As part of the process, SRC inspectors also educate staff on best practices to enhance care and services.
