New Bakery Unveiled in Glen Cove
Curcio Bakery & Cafe, a family-owned Italian bakery, had its grand opening and ribbon-cutting celebration on Thursday.

GLEN COVE, NY — Curcio Bakery & Cafe in Glen Cove had its grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday. This family-owned bakery is owned by Angelina and Pierino Curcio, and their three teenagers will work at the bakery as well.
The Glen Cove couple and owners said they are excited for the grand opening, especially since it is in their community.
“We love Glen Cove,” Angelina said. “We lived here our whole life, me and my husband. There’s a lot of Italian heritage here.”

Pierino immigrated from Italy when he was about 26, and Angelina when she was just about 18 months old.
The couple met almost 40 years ago and opened their first bakery together in 1997 in Long Beach, which has since been closed due to a fire, she said.

“We both started from bakeries,” Angelina said. “When I was 16 years old, I worked at a farmer’s bazaar bakery. My husband’s parents owned a bakery, so he was born into the business making breads.”
She said she hopes the Curcio Bakery & Cafe will be a spot for locals to enjoy Italian desserts.
“Just a nice, local place to come and have a cup of coffee or cappuccino with our Italian cornetto,” she said. “That's my favorite. I want to bring it here to America. In Italy, that’s the biggest breakfast item. A cornetto and a cappuccino.”
The couple also owned a small restaurant in Glen Cove until 2011.
“We just love baking and cooking for our community,” she said.
Curcio Bakery & Cafe is located at 10 Cedar Swamp Road, Glen Cove, and will offer light refreshments and treats served at the grand opening and ribbon-cutting celebration.
