LI Man Arrested On Drug Charges In Glen Cove: Police

Authorities have arrested a man they say was in possession of illicit drugs, some cash, and a digital scale in Glen Cove.

GLEN COVE, NY — A Long Island man was arrested on drug charges Sunday night after authorities found him with illicit drugs in Glen Cove.

Jason Johnson, 42, of Bayville, is accused of possessing what appeared to be cocaine, oxycodone, and heroin. A digital scale and an undisclosed amount of cash were also recovered at the scene, according to Glen Cove police.

Officers made the discovery around 8:30 p.m. Sunday on Mason Drive. It is not immediately clear exactly why police approached Johnson. But according to a statement released by the department, officers were "investigating a suspicious condition on Mason Drive."

Johnson has been charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (with the intent to sell), aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, and a number of other drug-related charges. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Monday at the First District Court in Hempstead.
