LI Man Spits On, Attacks Officers During Arrest: Nassau Police
Authorities have arrested a man they say assaulted the police officers who were trying to handcuff him.
JERICHO, NY — A Long Island man is facing grand larceny and assault charges after authorities say he attacked the police officers who were trying to arrest him.
It happened Tuesday afternoon at the Kohl's department store in Jericho.
Nassau County police say they were called to 28 Jericho Turnpike after employees reported that a man who stole from the store in May had return.

Authorities approached the suspect, who then tried to flee the store. In the struggle that ensued, police said the man injured two responding officers. One officer suffered injuries to his neck, left knee, and right middle finger — while the other hurt his knees and was spit on.
Police have identified the suspect as Julius White, 35, of Roosevelt. He has been charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, second-degree assault, and resisting arrest.

White, who has four open warrants, is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Hempstead.
