OLD BROOKVILLE, NY — The highest-paid MLB player in history got a deal on his new home in Nassau County last week, the Real Deal reported.

New York Mets pitcher Max Scherzer closed on an Old Brookville property for $5 million, $400,000 less than asking price.

"Cottonwood" is a Hamptons-shingle style estate on over three acres. It was listed by Tara Fox and Lois Kirschenbaum of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s.

Scherzer's 2021 deal with the Mets earns him $43.33 million per year for three years, topping the all-time Major League Baseball list. The 38-year-old is likely to be heading to the Hall of Fame after retirement based on his career statistics.
